A stronger start: how Maxstim is enhancing onion establishment
Trial Data

Early crop establishment is one of the most crucial factors in determining final yield. Our latest results show just how much difference Maxstim Agriculture+ and Cynosa™ can make, even from the very first stages of growth.
In a recent field trial across six commercial onion fields, plants treated with Maxstim inputs demonstrated a statistically significant 16% increase in establishment compared to untreated controls. That’s the equivalent of over 70,000 more plants per hectare, or more than an entire additional hectare of onions.
Trial Overview
To assess establishment, our agronomists conducted detailed plant counts across six paired fields, one treated and one control per site. Despite differences in soil, topography and environmental conditions, every site except one showed a clear uplift in plant numbers following treatment with Maxstim.

This translates to an average uplift of 70,555 plants per hectare, offering onion growers a significant edge from the very beginning of the season.
Why establishment matters
Establishment sets the foundation for everything that follows – root development, nutrient uptake, disease resilience and, ultimately, yield. A higher plant count not only improves potential output but can also enhance crop uniformity, making harvest more efficient and predictable.
The treated onions in this study received just two applications prior to leaf emergence, yet the impact was clear. This suggests that Maxstim is acting at a fundamental level, stimulating root vigour and early plant metabolism in a way that traditional inputs like foliar feeds do not.
Seed loss and return on investment
Based on a standard seeding rate of 640,000 seeds/ha, the data also revealed a 20% reduction in seed loss in Maxstim-treated plots. That’s not just a biological win, it’s an economic one.
With onion production facing increasing pressures, from tighter margins to climate variability, biostimulants offer growers a science-backed, sustainable way to get more from every hectare.
What sets Maxstim apart?
Maxstim Agriculture+ and Cynosa™ are flavonoid-rich biostimulants designed to work in harmony with your crop’s natural biology. Unlike simple fertilisers, they don’t just supply nutrients, they improve the plant’s ability to use them. Earlier studies in potato crops have shown similar improvements in establishment, root growth and yield.
These onion trials confirm that Maxstim’s unique mode of action is equally powerful in allium crop, making it a strong choice for growers looking to unlock early crop potential.
Next Steps
We’re continuing to monitor crop progress throughout the season, and more updates will follow. But for now, the data speaks for itself: with Maxstim, your onions can start stronger, grow better and yield more.
